I’m the owner of Wild Cedar Doula Care! I’ve been deeply fascinated by birth, ever since watching a birth video in my 6th grade health class. I was wide-eyed and totally mesmerized while my classmates hid their eyes and complained. That day, I learned I was a bit different than the other kids and birth was awe-inspiring and life changing!
My journey as a birth worker was deeply intertwined with becoming a mother myself. Motherhood fueled my passion to educate and support other birthing families.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also love hiking in the woods, kayaking in Michigan, campfires, thunderstorms and big dogs!
My greatest strengths are that I’m compassionate, flexible, down-to-earth, and a little feisty!
but my friends call me Mack. I’m a born and raised Hoosier who moved to Bloomington in 2017 to pursue a degree that would hopefully lead me to becoming an OBGYN. That quickly changed when I took a class called The History of Birth and learned what a doula was for the first time. It was a huge moment of clarity for me and I knew that it was the path I needed to take.
I completed my birth doula training in August 2022 and my postpartum doula training in April 2023. I am truly so passionate about both and know that the entire perinatal period is such a sacred time for a family.
When I’m not attending a birth or drawing up a sitz bath, I can usually be found curled up on my couch with my husband and my cat. I’m a total homebody, but I also like to do hot yoga and run. Despite my introverted tendencies, I’m actually very outgoing and I love connecting with others!
I've lived in Bloomington for over ten years, originally coming here for college and getting (happily) stuck here by marrying a townie. While working on my doctorate in the field of criminology, I gave birth to my first son after a long, challenging labor, followed by postpartum anxiety and breastfeeding struggles. Through that experience I found my true calling in birthwork. I'm now a certified birth doula, Evidence Based Birth® Instructor, and birth assistant. I have extensive experience supporting clients in both hospital and home settings. I'm extremely passionate about supporting families of all backgrounds as they experience the transition into parenthood, whether that be for the first or tenth time! In my free time, I love hiking, baking, and cozying up with a good book.
If you have a passion for supporting pregnant families on their journey to parenthood, please reach out! We are looking to build a team of doulas who specialize in birth and postpartum care.
